Love to run across Scotty clawing. They played this in Charleston, WV this past weekend. The whole band played and the booming bass drums were bone spooky. Just incredible. What a hauntingly cute song in a perfect Appalachian location.
Cheers jesus! These cats can do so much with their talent and songwriting and this is correct in Scott's wheelhouse. Go on this upwardly and you volition bring a whole new demographic of fans to your superb music.
So glad to come across the Avetts staying true to their roots. This is i of my favorite Appalachian songs.
I love hearing him play the clawhammer way on the banjo.Skillful quondam mountain music, and then rich in its history.
The whole band played this song live at Clemson. Tin't limited how amazing it was.
Favorite folk song he's played so far. Another great version is Doc Watson and Mike Seeger's.
Some fine picking past Northward Carolina's own Scott Avett. A Archetype english language folk tune, first recorded past claw hammer banjo player, Clarence Ashley.
This song is literally my favorite song! I fell in love with it the second I heard the commencement ever recording of this vocal the 1927 Clarence Ashley recording
This is really nice, Scott. Cheers for sharing.
I have been waiting for this one. So eerie, I dearest it.
Beloved it! I similar their new stuff, merely I wish they would drop the electric guitar and apply the banjo more. Rubin influence is obvious in new music.
the first time I heard this song was the first time I realized the banjo is my favorite instrument
So happy to see this! I've been so excited for it!
Yes! I've been patiently (sure, patiently) waiting for this. Cheers Mike!
Finally in tune!! Love it guys.
This was delicous with my morn coffee. Thanks!
Haha, finally some old-time from these guys!
Peter Rowan does a nice version - and and then exercise about 100 other people!
Should of been a vocal on "Oh Brother, Where Fine art thou"... Honey information technology
What kind of a setup practise you lot use to get such adept sound on a video? especially the banjo...information technology's like sitting correct adjacent to information technology!
Coo Coo Cool Crackerhead you shed light similar the sun, cheers for sharing the captured moments of celebrity.
This makes me desire to learn to play.
It's really not as well hard, and it is so much fun to play. Expect up "Sawmill" or "Modal" tuning for the banjo (on RUclip). Start there. The only actual chords I play are open (for the instrumental office) and second fret, 2nd string for the rest. Otherwise, mess around and see if you tin can figure out the rest of the instrumental (I use a pull-off on the 2d string 2d fret, then a w/ a slide on the 3rd cord 2nd to 3rd frets + open tertiary string.) Use clawhammer strum techniques. Practiced luck!
What better way is there to showtime your day than with some Avett?
Does anyone recognize the tuning he's playing this in? Is it Double C? 5th capoed too? I'thou non a clawhammer man, only'd love to effort this song.
Long haired disguised human being with a banjo in forepart of a barn, that only so happens to exist Scott Avett? Sexiness.
This man tin do no incorrect.
Heard this last nighttime in Charleston, WV. Such a great show!
My ears cheers you. So great!
I love it when in that location are no thumbs downwards!
He looks so badass in this video, I love it!
makes me want to learn banjo
If anybody could directly me to a guide to play this, that'd be fantastic
He sure would make Mr. Clarence Ashley proud. Dearest this!
Traditionally The Coo Coo is played in Mount Modal, which is kinda like a G small-scale tuning. All you do is downtune your B string to an A#. THat is how our banjo player tunes to play this song. Here, Scott capo-ed the first fret and then but tune the 5th string up 1/2 stride. hope this helps, adept luck
I'm certainly no expert just it looks like regular G modal tuning (gDGCD) capoed up to A (making it aEADE). He has railroad spikes on this banjo and then he doesn't need a 5th string capo. They've been playing this live in G modal with the whole band- pretty rockin version!! (google "coo coo into the fall austin 360")
I beloved claw hammer and dear this song and love this. Lovely
Hmmm.. but played with Scott and realized that my version is non exactly Scott's, but information technology is super close.
I beginning heard this in the movie common cold mountain. Scott rocks it here
Doc Watson had a good version of information technology. That's probably where Scott Avett first heard it.
Great classic Appalachian mount song. Really came over from England in the 1700s
I love that song first time i heard it was past the late corking Doc Watson
he but looks similar a bad ass right here. My God
28,000 hits in 6 days! Just sayin'
Dandy start to the forenoon! :) Cheers!
What tuning is his banjo in? I play this song in standard Thou with the drone tuned to friction match a chorded Am. I'm a piffling confused
he looks similar a cool guy jesus. although i'thou certain jesus was already a pretty cool guy
the semis driving past in the groundwork seem then fitting.
So when can anyone tell me if I will have the honor of attending another show at the house of blues in Myrtle Beach?
you already accept a tuner...there are many online guitar/banjo tuners bachelor. you just twist the knob until the sound of the cord matches what you lot hear coming from the calculator. repeat on all strings. and you don't need lessons, just find a chord diagram put your fingers on, strum. did it sound good? if no keep trying. every day 15min. when yous go that chord to sound good, pick another. and then practice switching between the two. so learn another. once you larn three, brand song.
Terribly happy I saw this on my Instagram feed.
